We wish to again welcome you to our blog, but this time we want to address you directly and thank you for your support of our blogging venture. You might be wondering why we created this blog dedicated to the beautiful country of Mongolia and we’re ready to answer this question and many more in this section of the blog.
Who Are We
So, hello, we are very happy to be able to introduce ourselves to you, our newest reader. We thought it was only natural for you to know the people behind your new favourite blog. We are first and foremost humble, as you can already tell. Second, we are quite obviously history nerds obsessed with the Mongolian Empire.
It took only of us to “infect” the others with never quenching thirst for knowledge about the khans and emperors of Mongolia. We all knew who Genghis Khan was and we’ve naturally joked about the possibility of being his descendants as he’s alleged to have at least 16 million great-great-great…children today.
Still, we only had the most basic surface knowledge of Genghis Khan, mainly coming from pop culture, so only once we started discussing his fascinating life, we realised how wrong we were about so many things and how many misconceptions we held about him and Imperial Mongolia in general.
The history part of our journey not only taught us about the various historical periods and Mongol leaders, but also introduced us for the first time to Tengrism. That’s when we truly became obsessed with Mongolia and its rich culture. It was a whole new world to us, and we were eager to explore it.
Why We Created the Blog
We were so entrenched in the study of Mongolia that we would spend hours discussing it and debating each other on various topics concerning it. Since we were already spending a lot of time in such discussions, we thought that we might use them for good and spread our accumulated knowledge to others who might find it interesting.
That’s how we came up with the idea for a blog, because it allows each one of us to contribute something fascinating that they know and share it with the rest of the Internet. I suspect some of you might get hooked on Mongolia as well, and that’s exactly what we yearn for.
Perhaps one day you might even visit this great country, like we did recently, and then you’ll certainly fall in love with it.
This is the brief backstory of our blog that we’re sure you’ll relate to if you ever had this type of deep interest for another nation. We hope you’ll like the articles we share with you, and we also hope that we can become virtual friends on our quest to explore the multi-faceted history and culture of Mongolia.
